Monique Lhuillier On Her Fall 2014 Bridal Collection: I Love the Gowns With a Little Color.

Monique Lhuillier Fall 2014 See All Photos Monique Lhuillier opened up her Secret Garden-inspired world to unveil her fall 2014 bridal collection, which exuded romanticism crossed with a vintage, heirloom quality, set against an antique-filtered backdrop. I wanted the pieces to feel like they were passed down from generations, so they had timeless, lightweight, effortless feel to them, the designer told InStyle.com. The dresses are slimmer—they have a vintage feeling. (Nowadays) brides are looking for more relaxed and softer silhouettes. Even though there were fewer underpinnings this season, it was clear that her work was no less intricate, with layers of tulle, signature lace details and embroideries rich in floral, lattice and vine motifs in silver and rose-gold threadwork. And her favorites? I love the gowns with a little color in them, like the smoke dress with a touch of lavender. I introduced the blush color three years ago and it has resonated so well, and it s now a staple in my collection. When I see a bride in a soft tone other than white, it s new, more exciting, more interesting. Click through to see her latest bridal couture line-up.

Editor-Tested: These Gel Manicure Shields Are Like Armor For Your Nails

SensatioNail Nail Shields It isn t hard to find an at-home gel manicure system to try out with all of the options on the market, it s easy enough to come back with at least 3 kits that speak to your personal preferences. However, finding a removal solution that is both gentle and effective is another story. While some acetone-based cleansers work wonders on dissolving the manicure s hard shell, they tend to beat up our nail beds and cuticles to the point we have to layer on a darker color to hide the damage. Alternately, the friendlier formulas don t quite get rid of all the leftover gunk. Enter SensatioNail s Nail Shields ($8; drugstores nationwide, sensationail.com for locations) which claim to create a protective barrier between your natural nail and the gel formula, and can be peeled away sans-damage after two weeks of wear. We asked InStyle.com Assistant Editor Marianne Mychaskiw to try out the nail shields and report back on the results. Keep reading to see what she thought!
RELATED: Can You Really Get a Gel Manicure in 60 Seconds?
I m a recent convert to the art of the at-home gel manicure, but was never the biggest fan of the removal process, not to mention, the damage it did to my nails. Sitting around the house with my digits wrapped in acetone and tinfoil was never one of my favorite activities, and even after the shellac had been whisked away, I spent weeks dousing my digits with cuticle oil and hand cream to try and nurse my nails back to health. SensatioNail s Nail Shields ($8; drugstores nationwide) seemed like the perfect answer to my problem the tiny decals promised the same two weeks of wear you d get with a traditional gel mani, minus the soaking and recovery time involved. The shields can also be layered under other gel manicure brands, and you can even bring them into the salon to have them applied prior to your pro-quality treatment.
If you re familiar with nail wraps, you ll have no trouble working with these. After buffing and filing your nails, give them a quick pass with a cotton ball soaked in the gel cleanser to remove any lingering oils from lotion or any other beauty products. Swipe on the nail shield as you would a patterned decal, and file off the longer edge. Make sure you use the included wood stick to push out any folds or air bubbles, and from there, you can layer the nail primer and gel color on as usual. I have to admit I didn t make it the full two weeks, but this was entirely due to my own error. In an attempt to create a solid gold manicure from a sheer finish, I applied the gel nail color a little too thick for my liking, and I made it about 7 days in before admitting defeat and attempting to pull everything off. Still, when I went to remove the manicure, the decals had the color anchored on pretty tight, and I had to use the wood stick to pry each nail off. What looked like a clear piece of plastic actually turned out to be a sheet of armor for my digits my nail bed was left smooth and damage-free, and no traces of gel were left behind. I m planning to use the nail shields again before going home for the holidays, because really, who has time for a manicure touch-up between parties and family plans? Just reminder to self: use a much lighter hand on the gel polish the next time around!

Runway Looks We Love: Saint Laurent

Saint Laurent, Fashion Week For his second outing at iconic French fashion house Saint Laurent, designer Hedi Slimane surprised us with a 90s grunge-inspired collection. There were baby-doll dresses, oversize flannels, fishnets, and floral chiffon. While high-fashion and plaid flannel shirts don t normally go hand-in-hand, Slimane did intersperse some luxe elements into the 48-look collection—like the blush fur coat (pictured at right) and some richly embroidered leather pieces. Tough-chic motorcycle boots and delicate strands of pearls finished off each look. See our favorites in the gallery.

Kellan Lutz, Sophia Bush, and More Came Out to Support the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Pathway to the Cures for Breast Cancer: A Fundraiser Benefiting Susan G. Komen See All Photos Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. was abuzz last night as the stars gathered to support the fight against breast cancer. Jaimie Alexander, Kellan Lutz, Jessica Roffey, Sophia Bush, and Emmanuelle Chriqui (pictured above) were joined by Amber Valetta, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adrian Grenier, Busy Philipps, Jordana Brewster, and more at the Pathway to the Cures for Breast Cancer: A Fundraiser Benefiting Susan G. Komen event. Presented by Relativity Media and Pathway Genomics, the evening raised funds to provide affordable hereditary breast cancer testing and to eradicate the disease. During the party, Pathway announced their plans to donate $10 million in BRCA genetic tests for women who can’t afford the test.
It s nice to come out in support of such an important initiative. The fact that 1 in 8 women is affected by breast cancer in their life is not an acceptable statistic, Bush tells InStyle. When companies choose to be proactive I m just incredibly grateful because they re going to save lives.  Chriqui also expressed the significance of showing up for the event. Susan G. Komen has done so much for breast cancer awareness, so you never need to twist my arm to come and support their cause, the actress says.
Kesha Performance For the occasion, the space was transformed into a luxe living room where guests could snap pictures in an Instagram photo booth, indulge in Absolut Elyx cocktails and One Hope wines, hydrate themselves with Evian water, and snack on small bites like local handmade toffees by McFaddy Candy Co. and delicious charcuterie and cheeses. To top off the evening, Kesha gave a glitter-filled performance of several of her hits including Timber and Your Love is My Drug, which got everyone dancing. I loved seeing Kesha, I was right up against the stage. Valetta says. I knew all the words to the first song!
Despite the fun atmosphere, guests were really there to support the worthy cause. I was really excited to hear what these two organization are doing. Both my mom and two grandmothers all had breast cancer, Valetta shares. Beside prevention and self-checking and doing your mammograms, the biggest way to help is by making genetic testing available for everybody, which is what this group is aiming to do.
Check out more photos from the event and the rest of this week’s hottest parties in our gallery!

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher s First Kiss Was Over A Decade Ago

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher Can we take a moment to gush about Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher? Aside from the fact that they are one of Hollywood s most adorable couples, we found out that Kutcher was Kunis first kiss during their That 70 s Show days (cue the aw!), according to the Huffington Post and the couple s former co-star and Orange Is the New Black actress, Laura Prepon. During the series, which ran from 1998 to 2006, a 15-year-old Kunis played Jackie Burkhart and dated Michael Kelso (Kutcher, a fresh-off-the-runway, 20-year-old Calvin Klein model). Now over a decade later, the couple, who both ended separate long-term relationships (Kunis dated Macaulay Culkin, while Kutcher was married to Demi Moore), rekindled the Jackie-Kelso flame and have been happily dating for over a year. How cute is that?

Pretty Little Liars Tonight: Why Shay Mitchell Is Loving This Season

Pretty Little Liars Shay Mitchell Rejoice, Pretty Little Liars fans—it s Tuesday, which means there s a fresh episode of our favorite (and most stylish) teen mystery on tonight! Last week, one of the Liars found out that someone very close to her was a member of the A Team (gasp!). This week, the girls are banding together to help her cope—Shay Mitchell s Emily included. I think in the beginning, Emily was looked at as the weakest link, and now she s showing that she s not, and she s not the one to mess with either, Mitchell told InStyle.com at the Nanette Lepore for jcp L Amour launch party in New York. Why else is she loving season 3? The second half of the season is really about one of the girls breaking down a little more than the others. It s going to be interesting to see her character in a downward spiral after knowing her for the past seasons. Oh, no! Any guesses, ladies? Tune in to ABC Family at 8/7c to find out!

A Barefoot Emma Thompson and a Hotdog-Eating Julia Louis-Dreyfus: Our 9 Favorite Moments From the Golden Globe Awards

Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick and Sosie Bacon What a night! The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards packed a lot of fun in just three hours, from the fashions on the red carpet to the surprising winners of the night. Here s our 9 favorite moments from the night:
1. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
According to Fey and Poehler, their second time hosting the Golden Globes was a beautiful mess we hoped it would be! The two funny ladies kicked off the night with a series of jokes that had even Tom Hanks laughing. Our two favorite skits? Poehler taking the stage as Fey s son Randy aka Mr. Globes and Julia Louis-Dreyfus eating in a hotdog.
2. Jennifer Lawrence—InStyle s December 2013 Cover Girl—Wins Best Supporting Actress
She did it again! Lawrence took home the first Golden Globe award of the night for her role as Christian Bale s unpredictable wife in David O. Russell s American Hustle. Just last year, Lawrence won a Golden Globe for best actress in Silver Linings Playbook and she is showing no signs of slowing down.
3. Breaking Bad s Last Hurrah
It was the perfect way to say goodbye to Breaking Bad, which received the two gold statuettes for Best Drama Series and Best Actor (Bryan Cranston).
4. Amy Adams 15th Anniversary of Moving to LA
The American Hustle actress had a lot to celebrate last night! Not only did she take home the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, but the night marked her 15th anniversary of her big move to Los Angeles to begin her career. Congratulations Amy!
5. The Bacons
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick shared an adorable family moment when they took to the stage to introduce their 21-year-old daughter, Sosie Bacon, as Miss Golden Globe.  We know Miss Golden Globe, they shouted right before Fey and Poehler interjected with their hilarious Mr. Golden Globe skit.

6. A Barefoot Emma Thompson
Leave it to Thompson to present an award barefoot! The Saving Mr. Banks star hit the stage with her Christian Louboutins in her hand (she even tossed them behind her back before she announced the winner) and we can t say we re shocked! When we caught up with the Golden Globe-nominated actress during the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City she admitted to InStyle.com, heels get more painful as you get older. I’ve got band aids on every single toe. Who knows, come Oscars time, going onstage barefoot might become a trend!
7. Amy Poehler Winning Her First Golden Globe
I never won anything like this, Poehler exclaimed while accepting her very first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Comedy Series (Parks and Recreation). What made the moment priceless was she got a personal back massage from Bono, and even made out with him. Not a bad way to accept an award!
8. Leonardo DiCaprio Winning Best Actor
After nine nominations and one win, DiCaprio can finally add another Golden Globe win to his roster! The Wolf of Wall Street star earned one of the night s biggest honors, Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, and he didn t skip a beat during his acceptance speech to thank his director, Martin Scorsese, by saying, thank you for your mentorship.
9. Adorable Couple Moment: Matthew McConaughey and Wife Camila Alves
Aside from being the most stylish couple on the red carpet—they were both in clad in Dolce & Gabbana—they were also the cutest. Right before McConaughey accepted his award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, the two shared an adorable kiss and he even thanked her during his speech. Our hearts runneth over!

RELATED: Remembering Lilly Pulitzer
“Everything we design at Lilly Pulitzer comes from roots deeply grounded in resort wear and Palm Beach. Luxletic was born from the same place; it comes from outfitting needs for the life lead under sunny skies, Jane Schoenborn, vice president of marketing and creative communications for Lilly Pulitzer, tells InStyle.
Lilly loved to start her day with a walk on the Lake Trail and end along the beach, Schoenborn says. Luxletic is designed with our own Palm Beach routine in mind—start the day with a walk and then head out for fresh juice, coffee, and the scoop from last night. It’s designed with the details we love—a flattering fit, easy to pack, and ready to go anywhere.
Lilly Pulitzer plans to add more items to the collection this summer—including pieces featuring its famous prints. Mall of America Turns 20! That s a Lot of Shopping

Mall of America In a country where shopping destinations come and go with the seasons, there s one mall that stands tall amongst all the others: the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, which—just in time for tomorrow s ultimate American act: voting!—is celebrating its 20th year of operation. Otherwise known as the only mall in the country with a fully functional indoor theme park (roller coasters included!), the 4.2-million-square-foot retail mecca is one of the two largest malls in all of North America, along with the 6.1-million-square-foot West Edmonton Mall in Alberta, Canada. Since the Mall of America opened in 1992, it has added a number of unique programs not on offer at most of its (much smaller) competition—like a fitness club for mall walkers who frequent the large space and educational classes for high school students yearning to study fields like the visual arts, law enforcement, hospitality, retail management, and business. So, tell us: Have you traveled long distances to visit America s most famous mall?

Check Out the Purple Purse Kerry Washington Designed to Raise Awareness for an Incredible Cause

Kerry Washington at Purple Purse Launch When Kerry Washington got the chance to combine her passion for fashion with support for a cause she’s always been close to, it was a no-brainer for the actress. At last night s launch of the Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse Program, the Scandal star (in a green Alexander McQueen dress and Casadei pumps) was thrilled to unveil the limited-edition bag she personally designed to raise awareness for domestic violence and financial abuse. When this opportunity came along, I felt like it was such a great chance for me to be part a of the solution, and this bag is a way to address helping women in a very tangible, specific way, she told InStyle at New York City s Glasshouses.
Washington has been an advocate of domestic violence awareness for some time, and strives to use her voice to empower survivors and victims of abuse while working to prevent future occurrences. Her purse, crafted in the signature shade of domestic violence awareness—purple—symbolizes taking control of your finances and becoming economically independent even in the face of abuse and intimidation. My goal was to design a purple bag that I would want to wear every day. I like bags, so it had to be a great bag! Kerry said. I wanted it to have a classic aesthetic, so it has really beautiful tweed detailing to it, but I also wanted it to be edgy, modern, and strong. I wanted it to be feminine, and I wanted it to be dynamic. I wanted it to be everything that a self-supporting woman could be in a bag … Big goals!
Big indeed, but Washington was able to live up to the task. And creating a clutch, as opposed to a traditional shoulder bag, was a decision she carefully considered. It’s not just something that hangs on you, but it’s something you can hold, she said. You can hold your independence, your well-being, your future, and your safety.
