Here s How You Can Get Jennifer Lopez s Signature Bombshell Waves

Courtesy We may never uncover the secrets to Jennifer Lopez’s seemingly ageless glow and washboard abs, but thanks to some helpful hints from her mane gal, Jen Atkin, the star’s signature hairstyle is more attainable than ever. Read on for her must-know tips on achieving voluminous, bombshell waves.
The first thing you’ll need to pump up the volume? Those universally flattering (and most-googled) layers. The ringlet master, who prepped Lopez with long, tousled waves on American Idol, says to ask your stylist for lots of long layers to give your curls movement and bounce. “If it’s all one length and really long, it’s hard to get that body and movement that Jennifer has,” Atkin tells InStyle. When it comes to styling your layers at home, she recommends taking a “less is more” approach by creating loose waves in small sections. “If you start to get too crazy with the curls and use too small of a curling iron, it starts to look adolescent instead of sexy.”

But before you can achieve those perfectly tousled curls, you’ll want to start with a clean slate. “You’re never going to get that full, voluminous look if you have an oily scalp or if you haven’t taken care of your scalp,” she adds. “So it’s all about starting at the base, starting at the root and making sure that your hair is really clean.” She recommends Clear’s Volumizing Root Boost shampoo ($5; target.com) for a fresh foundation and loads of lift. If you have fine hair, she suggests prepping with a texturizing beach spray; then, start blowing out 1½–inch sections with a round brush. Set your strands as you blow dry with the cooling button to lock in volume. Once it’s dry, grab a 1½–inch curling iron (she loves GHD’s line, $245; ghdhair.com) and hold the barrel vertically as you wrap hair away from the face. “I always hold an inch of the hair out so it gets nice body and movement and the end doesn’t look too curled or too fussy,” she says.
Now that you know the secrets to Lopez’s flawless tresses, you may be wondering how you can keep your hair looking just as healthy, too. “It’s super important to do weekly treatments. Sunday is not only the perfect day to unwind, but it makes for a solid routine to cleanse away a week of buildup and restore luster,” Atkin adds. She recommends Clear’s Intense Hydration Mask ($5; target.com). “It’s infused with cactus extract which leaves the hair with a silky smooth finish.

Annie Premiere: How You Can Get Cameron Diaz s and Rose Byrne s Flawless Hair and Makeup

Cameron Diaz and Rose Byrne were two picture-perfect stars at the world premiere of Annie in the Big Apple this weekend. Wondering how you can recreate their gorgeous beauty looks from home? You re in luck—their trusty glam squads were kind enough to offer us the inside scoop. Get all the details below!
For Diaz, who finished things off with an effortless hairstyle, makeup artist Robin Fredriksz aimed for a look that “clean and simple.” To achieve healthy, glowing skin for the big day ahead, she relied on all-natural skincare brand Baszicare for loads of hydration. First, Fredriksz revitalized the star’s complexion with Roseus Floral Hydrating Toner ($110; baszicare.com), and then she beautified the entire under eye area with a blend of concealer and Astra Eye Contour Cream ($250; baszicare.com). For her next step, she slathered on moisturizer to ensure a smooth makeup application.

Since the star’s eye makeup was kept soft and natural with just a hint of sparkle, Fredriksz saw ample opportunity for a bold berry lip. She used Marc Jacob’s Kiss Pop lip color stick in Headliner ($28; sephora.com) to get the job done. Lastly, in lieu of blush, she swiped some on her fingers and applied to Diaz’s cheekbones.
Envying Bryne’s gorgeous bob? To achieve the ultra-sleek look, the man behind the mane Harry Josh prepped her wet hair with John Frieda’s Frizz Ease 3-Day Straight ($10; ulta.com) from root to tip before blowing out strands with a round brush. Once her hair was dry, he parted it to the side and flat ironed sections with his Pro Tools Ceramic Styling Iron ($250; hairenvy.com), using a teasing comb to help keep each section straight. He finished with a spritz of Keraflex Flexible Hold Hairspray ($9; target.com) to lock the style in place. Flawless!

Editor-Tested: These Gel Manicure Shields Are Like Armor For Your Nails

SensatioNail Nail Shields It isn t hard to find an at-home gel manicure system to try out with all of the options on the market, it s easy enough to come back with at least 3 kits that speak to your personal preferences. However, finding a removal solution that is both gentle and effective is another story. While some acetone-based cleansers work wonders on dissolving the manicure s hard shell, they tend to beat up our nail beds and cuticles to the point we have to layer on a darker color to hide the damage. Alternately, the friendlier formulas don t quite get rid of all the leftover gunk. Enter SensatioNail s Nail Shields ($8; drugstores nationwide, sensationail.com for locations) which claim to create a protective barrier between your natural nail and the gel formula, and can be peeled away sans-damage after two weeks of wear. We asked InStyle.com Assistant Editor Marianne Mychaskiw to try out the nail shields and report back on the results. Keep reading to see what she thought!
RELATED: Can You Really Get a Gel Manicure in 60 Seconds?
I m a recent convert to the art of the at-home gel manicure, but was never the biggest fan of the removal process, not to mention, the damage it did to my nails. Sitting around the house with my digits wrapped in acetone and tinfoil was never one of my favorite activities, and even after the shellac had been whisked away, I spent weeks dousing my digits with cuticle oil and hand cream to try and nurse my nails back to health. SensatioNail s Nail Shields ($8; drugstores nationwide) seemed like the perfect answer to my problem the tiny decals promised the same two weeks of wear you d get with a traditional gel mani, minus the soaking and recovery time involved. The shields can also be layered under other gel manicure brands, and you can even bring them into the salon to have them applied prior to your pro-quality treatment.
If you re familiar with nail wraps, you ll have no trouble working with these. After buffing and filing your nails, give them a quick pass with a cotton ball soaked in the gel cleanser to remove any lingering oils from lotion or any other beauty products. Swipe on the nail shield as you would a patterned decal, and file off the longer edge. Make sure you use the included wood stick to push out any folds or air bubbles, and from there, you can layer the nail primer and gel color on as usual. I have to admit I didn t make it the full two weeks, but this was entirely due to my own error. In an attempt to create a solid gold manicure from a sheer finish, I applied the gel nail color a little too thick for my liking, and I made it about 7 days in before admitting defeat and attempting to pull everything off. Still, when I went to remove the manicure, the decals had the color anchored on pretty tight, and I had to use the wood stick to pry each nail off. What looked like a clear piece of plastic actually turned out to be a sheet of armor for my digits my nail bed was left smooth and damage-free, and no traces of gel were left behind. I m planning to use the nail shields again before going home for the holidays, because really, who has time for a manicure touch-up between parties and family plans? Just reminder to self: use a much lighter hand on the gel polish the next time around!

Evangeline Lilly Gets a Dramatic Bobbed Haircut

Evangeline Lily Hair See All Photos Evangeline Lilly has got a brand new bob! Yesterday on Instagram, the star posted a picture of her polished crop, keeping her signature bangs intact. We re assuming the change is for her role as Hope Van Dyne better known as Wasp in Ant-Man alongside Paul Rudd. Lilly, who previously starred in Lost, proves to be anything but in terms of her spontaneous hair choices. Back in 2012, she chopped her brunette strands into a long pixie with bold blonde highlights, and later experimented with the lob and blunt fringe movements. When it comes to my look, it changes almost daily, she told InStyle. It s like art to me. I have the chance every day to create a look an a character. We can t wait to see her new do in action once Ant-Man hits theaters in July of next year, not to mention what she ll try next.
