There s no question that Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike has been killing it on the red carpet all awards season long, and that s largely in part thanks to her post-baby outlook on fashion. At the unveiling of Louis Vuitton’s Series 2 exhibition last night in Los Angeles, the star (who gave birth to her second child on Dec. 2), looked incredible in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton and dished on experimenting with style post-baby.

It s a wonderfully freeing time right after you ve given birth and you re a mom. It gives you an opportunity to really treat fashion as something fun because things don t exactly fit and your body is a different shape, which makes it a time to experiment, Pike tells InStyle. Everything feels so fun and free for me at the moment. But there s really this juxtaposition where I m at home feeding him, and then I put a dress on and am suddenly on the red carpet. It s surreal, to be honest. I m just not thinking about myself and fashion that much. I m sort of doing the red carpet and going back to the most important thing, which are my children.
As for her look at the event, Pike was loving it: I realize this might become one of those iconic dresses. I think it s a really beautiful creation—it was the thing that caught my eye most in the Louis Vuitton collection, she says. You ve seen it in white in the ad campaign, and I m wearing the blue version. I love the feeling of being covered up and protected. I m not into revealing too much (Golden Globes gown aside), but I think there s something very nonchalant about this dress with its long sleeves, high neck, and short length.
The Best Actress nominee is gearing up for what will certainly be another fashion win at the Academy Awards, and we can t wait to see what she wears.

1. Stand with you feet shoulder width apart and grab a one pound hand weight for each hand.
2. Alternating hands, punch straight out, keeping your hands above your collar bone on the way out and back, getting to about 95 percent extension. Start slowly and pick up speed for 60 seconds, then rest for 30 seconds.
3. Next, frame your face with your fists and punch straight up to the ceiling, alternating hands, and repeat for 60 seconds, then rest for 30 seconds.
4. Finally, put both hands up, and punch your left hand straight out and back as fast as you can for 60 seconds for each arm. As fast as the punches go out they have to be pulled back.

This Baked Ziti Arrabbiata recipe comes to us from Mastering My Mistakes in the Kitchen by Dana Cowin. Get the story behind the dish here.
Active time: 40 minutes
Total time: 1 hour
Serves: 6 to 8
¼ cup olive oil, divided, plus more for brushing
1 garlic clove, minced
1½ tsp crushed red pepper, divided
One 28-oz can whole peeled tomatoes, smoothies with your hands, juices reserved
Kosher salt
2 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk, warmed
Freshly grated nutmeg
1½ lb ziti
½ lb mozzarella cheese, cut into ½” cubes
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese, divided
1 cup coarse bread crumbs
1. Heat 2 tbsp of the oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add garlic and 1 tsp of crushed red pepper and cook, stirring, until fragrant, just a minute or so. Add the tomatoes, with their juices, and a very large pinch of salt, turn the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer the sauce until just slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.
2. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook, stirring, until a smooth paste the palest shade of brown forms, about 2 minutes. While whisking continuously, slowly pour in the milk. Bring the sauce to a boil and cook, stirring, until it is nice and thick, about 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and season the béchamel to taste with salt and nutmeg. Set aside.
3. Preheat the over to 375°F. Brush a 9-by-13” baking dish with olive oil.
4. Fill your largest pot with water, bring to a boil and season liberally with salt. (You might need to cook the pasta in 2 batches, depending on the size of your pot.) Add the ziti and cook it 3 minutes short of the package instructions—you don’t want it to cool all the way through, or it will overcook when you bake it. Drain the pasta and transfer it to a large bowl.
5. Add the reserved tomato sauce, the béchamel, mozzarella and ¾ cup of the Parmesan to the ziti and stir well. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and scatter the remaining ¼ cup Parmesan over the top.
6. Toss the bread crumbs with the remaining 2 tbsp of olive oil in a small bowl and season with salt. Scatter the bread crumbs over the ziti, then sprinkle with the reaming ½ tsp of crushed red pepper and a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg.
7. Bake the pasta until it is bubbling and the top is browned, about 15 minutes. Let the pasta rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Here s How You Can Get Jennifer Lopez s Signature Bombshell Waves

We may never uncover the secrets to Jennifer Lopez’s seemingly ageless glow and washboard abs, but thanks to some helpful hints from her mane gal, Jen Atkin, the star’s signature hairstyle is more attainable than ever. Read on for her must-know tips on achieving voluminous, bombshell waves.
The first thing you’ll need to pump up the volume? Those universally flattering (and most-googled) layers. The ringlet master, who prepped Lopez with long, tousled waves on American Idol, says to ask your stylist for lots of long layers to give your curls movement and bounce. “If it’s all one length and really long, it’s hard to get that body and movement that Jennifer has,” Atkin tells InStyle. When it comes to styling your layers at home, she recommends taking a “less is more” approach by creating loose waves in small sections. “If you start to get too crazy with the curls and use too small of a curling iron, it starts to look adolescent instead of sexy.”

But before you can achieve those perfectly tousled curls, you’ll want to start with a clean slate. “You’re never going to get that full, voluminous look if you have an oily scalp or if you haven’t taken care of your scalp,” she adds. “So it’s all about starting at the base, starting at the root and making sure that your hair is really clean.” She recommends Clear’s Volumizing Root Boost shampoo ($5; target.com) for a fresh foundation and loads of lift. If you have fine hair, she suggests prepping with a texturizing beach spray; then, start blowing out 1½–inch sections with a round brush. Set your strands as you blow dry with the cooling button to lock in volume. Once it’s dry, grab a 1½–inch curling iron (she loves GHD’s line, $245; ghdhair.com) and hold the barrel vertically as you wrap hair away from the face. “I always hold an inch of the hair out so it gets nice body and movement and the end doesn’t look too curled or too fussy,” she says.
Now that you know the secrets to Lopez’s flawless tresses, you may be wondering how you can keep your hair looking just as healthy, too. “It’s super important to do weekly treatments. Sunday is not only the perfect day to unwind, but it makes for a solid routine to cleanse away a week of buildup and restore luster,” Atkin adds. She recommends Clear’s Intense Hydration Mask ($5; target.com). “It’s infused with cactus extract which leaves the hair with a silky smooth finish.

We re Fascinated by Lykke Li s Nomadic Lifestyle, Fashion Line, and Reason for Wearing All Black

In the October issue of InStyle, on newsstands and available for digital download now, musician Lykke Li takes on fall s cool-girl wardrobe—and paints it black. The following is an excerpt from the Swedish-born songstress and high-fashion minimalist s feature.
Judging from her structured all-black outfits and the exquisite heartbreak of her 2014 hit single, No Rest for the Wicked, it would be easy to cast Lykke Li as just another melancholic Swede. But the starkness is simply a layer of Li s no-nonsense sensibility. When you re always traveling, you can t wear color because you don t have time to wash clothes, explains the pragmatic chanteuse to InStyle. So you refine your style to the basics.
Li is certainly no newcomer to a life on the road. My mother was a crazy restless soul, she says. The first time I circled the globe I was 9 months old. Now the singer splits her time between Stockholm and Los Angeles. But between three acclaimed albums in six years, modeling gigs for Levi s and H&M, and a grueling performance schedule, she still leads a largely nomadic life. When it comes to style, Li prides herself on slicked-back simplicity: I like to travel with good perfume and a pocketful of gold jewelry, she says. This fall Li debuts her first fashion line, mostly black ready-to-wear pieces and accessories she designed together with the Swedish fashion house & Other Stories (available in late October). The collection is inspired by her lifelong wanderings.

It s Gossip Girl Heartthrob Chace Crawford s Birthday!

Happy 29th birthday, Chace Crawford! The Texas-born dreamboat, made famous by his swoon-worthy role as Nate Archibald on Gossip Girl, has proven life extends far past the golden bounds of the Upper East Side and has quite the lineup of upcoming projects. Not only is the actor slated to star in two indie-flick comedies—Undrafted and Mountain Men—but he also has the horror film Eloise, which is set to debut later this year. Then there is a role in an untitled romantic-drama project with Academy Award–winning director Warren Beatty. What character Crawford will play isn t clear, but he will be part of an ensemble cast alongside Lily Collins and Matthew Broderick.

Gigi Hadid Dishes On Her Style Essentials (and What Her Closet Really Looks Like)

It-girl and model of the moment, Gigi Hadid, has got some serious style on and off the runway. Winning hearts of her 1.9 million+ Instagram followers with every new outfit post (insert thumbs up emoji here), we can’t help but wonder what does her closet look like?

At the Diesel Black Gold fall 2015 show this week, we caught up with the 19-year-old rising star backstage. “Right now, my closet is a mess because it’s Fashion Week. I don’t have time to organize it!” Hadid tells InStyle. “But besides that, I have about 75 percent simple pieces, and 25 percent unique, standout pieces. That’s really my style—jeans, a T-shirt, and one piece that pops,” says Hadid, who fittingly rocked an all-black ensemble from Diesel Black Gold, including a swoon-worthy spiky-studded leather jacket from the brand’s recent pre-fall collection.

As for her celeb style crush? “I think Blake Lively always has great style, especially when she was pregnant!” says Hadid. Much agreed on that note—everyone needs a little fashion inspo. We re already curious to know what Gigi will be wearing next.

First Look! Kerry Washington Is InStyle's Gorgeous March Cover Star

Every Thursday, millions (13.9 million, to be exact) tune into ABC to watch Scandal, and they do so for more than the undeniable chemistry between the show’s star, Kerry Washington, and the two men dangerously and viciously vying for her affection. The fashion worn by Washington’s character, Olivia Pope, plays a major role in the show’s draw each week, thanks to crisp suits and sophisticated toppers by the likes of Dior, Escada, and Salvatore Ferragamo—who she wears for her first appearance on the cover of InStyle, available on newsstands and for digital download Feb. 13.

Washington’s go-to style, however, is decidedly different. She arrived to our shoot at L.A.’s Milk Studios wearing a rosy pink Ella Moss top (which matched daughter Isabelle’s ruffled dress), black Vince pants, and $39 T-strap flats by MIA. In between dancing to hits by Beyoncé and doting on her other baby, shih tzu-Yorkie mix Josie, the 38-year-old chatted with us about her post-baby workout routine (yoga, pilates, and cardio).
