Kellan Lutz, Sophia Bush, and More Came Out to Support the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Pathway to the Cures for Breast Cancer: A Fundraiser Benefiting Susan G. Komen See All Photos Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. was abuzz last night as the stars gathered to support the fight against breast cancer. Jaimie Alexander, Kellan Lutz, Jessica Roffey, Sophia Bush, and Emmanuelle Chriqui (pictured above) were joined by Amber Valetta, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adrian Grenier, Busy Philipps, Jordana Brewster, and more at the Pathway to the Cures for Breast Cancer: A Fundraiser Benefiting Susan G. Komen event. Presented by Relativity Media and Pathway Genomics, the evening raised funds to provide affordable hereditary breast cancer testing and to eradicate the disease. During the party, Pathway announced their plans to donate $10 million in BRCA genetic tests for women who can’t afford the test.
It s nice to come out in support of such an important initiative. The fact that 1 in 8 women is affected by breast cancer in their life is not an acceptable statistic, Bush tells InStyle. When companies choose to be proactive I m just incredibly grateful because they re going to save lives.  Chriqui also expressed the significance of showing up for the event. Susan G. Komen has done so much for breast cancer awareness, so you never need to twist my arm to come and support their cause, the actress says.
Kesha Performance For the occasion, the space was transformed into a luxe living room where guests could snap pictures in an Instagram photo booth, indulge in Absolut Elyx cocktails and One Hope wines, hydrate themselves with Evian water, and snack on small bites like local handmade toffees by McFaddy Candy Co. and delicious charcuterie and cheeses. To top off the evening, Kesha gave a glitter-filled performance of several of her hits including Timber and Your Love is My Drug, which got everyone dancing. I loved seeing Kesha, I was right up against the stage. Valetta says. I knew all the words to the first song!
Despite the fun atmosphere, guests were really there to support the worthy cause. I was really excited to hear what these two organization are doing. Both my mom and two grandmothers all had breast cancer, Valetta shares. Beside prevention and self-checking and doing your mammograms, the biggest way to help is by making genetic testing available for everybody, which is what this group is aiming to do.

Check Out the Purple Purse Kerry Washington Designed to Raise Awareness for an Incredible Cause

Kerry Washington at Purple Purse Launch When Kerry Washington got the chance to combine her passion for fashion with support for a cause she’s always been close to, it was a no-brainer for the actress. At last night s launch of the Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse Program, the Scandal star (in a green Alexander McQueen dress and Casadei pumps) was thrilled to unveil the limited-edition bag she personally designed to raise awareness for domestic violence and financial abuse. When this opportunity came along, I felt like it was such a great chance for me to be part a of the solution, and this bag is a way to address helping women in a very tangible, specific way, she told InStyle at New York City s Glasshouses.
Washington has been an advocate of domestic violence awareness for some time, and strives to use her voice to empower survivors and victims of abuse while working to prevent future occurrences. Her purse, crafted in the signature shade of domestic violence awareness—purple—symbolizes taking control of your finances and becoming economically independent even in the face of abuse and intimidation. My goal was to design a purple bag that I would want to wear every day. I like bags, so it had to be a great bag! Kerry said. I wanted it to have a classic aesthetic, so it has really beautiful tweed detailing to it, but I also wanted it to be edgy, modern, and strong. I wanted it to be feminine, and I wanted it to be dynamic. I wanted it to be everything that a self-supporting woman could be in a bag … Big goals!
Big indeed, but Washington was able to live up to the task. And creating a clutch, as opposed to a traditional shoulder bag, was a decision she carefully considered. It’s not just something that hangs on you, but it’s something you can hold, she said. You can hold your independence, your well-being, your future, and your safety.
